Women's Health
Ascent Physical Therapy is an outpatient clinic, specializing in:
Urinary Incontinence
Urinary incontinence is common, especially after childbearing, with aging, and in athletic women, however incontinence is treatable!
The involuntary loss of urine is a common and often embarrassing health problem that many women are reluctant to discuss. Urinary incontinence affects up to 12 million women, however very few seek treatment. Basic treatment can resolve up to 75% of urinary incontinence with 95% of women receiving treatment having significant improvement.
How is urinary incontinence treated?
The female physical therapist will determine a woman's level and type of dysfunction by taking an extensive medical history, using a bladder diary completed by the patient, and completing a musculoskeletal and pelvic floor evaluation.
Individual, private therapy sessions focus on exercises for the pelvic floor, lifestyle adaptation and modification, education, and manual therapy, as well as the use of a home program.

Pelvic Pain
Chronic pelvic pain is another common complaint of women. The pain may be constant, or may come and go, and can progress to interrupt your day to day activities.
This pain may fluctuate with your cycle or you may have pain with sex. In either situation, there could be a problem with an organ in the pelvic area (uterus, ovaries, cervix, vagina) and can be evaluated by your doctor. When physician's examination reveals no specific cause of your pelvic pain, it is likely to be musculoskeletal in origin and is treatable!
Physical therapy can do much for pelvic pain. Treatment consists of pelvic floor exercises, tissue mobilization, manual therapy, education, and a home exercise program.

Individual therapy sessions to address changes in alignment and soft tissue are addressed, as well as education and exercise that is safe for you during your pregnancy. Making sure that you are "fit to deliver" can help you avoid problems later in your pregnancy and especially after you deliver.
