An orthotic is a supportive device which is placed inside footwear to change the mechanical function of the foot. It works dynamically during weight-bearing activities like walking, running, and standing to provide full, custom, comfortable, and corrected arch contact so that the foot works in a biomechanically correct way.

About 87% of the population have problems with their feet and don't know it. Foot orthodics are prescribed for a number of conditions but most commonly for fallen arches. This can lead to painful foot deformities such as bunions, hammertoes, corns, neuromas, and plantar fascitis. The condition of the arch also affects the body's posture and mechanical efficiency of the lower leg, pelvis and spine that may cause hip, knee and low back pain.

Depending on how advanced the condition is, most people will experience significant relief within weeks of regular use; at most, it may take a few months.
